So, as predicted by all and sundry (including me) the government wins. A majority of 9 – the same number of votes as there are in the DUP, who all voted with the government. Intersting, hey. My ‘Quote of the Moment’ is this one:

The size of the Labour rebellion is shattering for Gordon Brown’s credibility.  Okay, he got his clauses passed, but only through bribery and coercion. When the bill inevitably gets bounced back by the Lords, it’s got no chance. A sorry day for the government – the result couldn’t really be worse.
