I used to like Sarah Palin, I admit it.
Now I don’t.
When I first heard about her, I thought it was a joke1. Then there was the fantastic speech she gave and the business with her being supportive of her pregnant daughter and I began to think ‘here’s a reasonably nice lady who’s getting more criticism than she deserves’. I decided to let it slide that she was a creationist – it takes all sorts, after all. She seems nice. A family woman.
Now, I’m falling decisively in line with the opinion that she is just a joke after all. A Vice Presidential candidate who has, in over a month since being selected, not held a single press conference. Her interviews are painful to watch. Her opinions are disgraceful. AND she believes humans and dinosaurs walked together on Earth. But weren’t mentioned in the Bible. Or something.
To top it all off, Fake Sarah Palin is more believable than the real one.
In the meantime, Obama’s response to Bristol Palin’s pregnancy showed just what a clear-thinking politician he is:
I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18. And how family deals with issues and teenage children that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that is off limits.
If only he could get his supporters to act as reasonably and rationally as he does. I maintain that neither candidate will be a true train-wreck, but as a Conservative, I know who I’m hoping will be the next President.
- Incidentally, it appears the Republicans really have gone mad, though… [↩]
