Baby P’s Murderers Identified On Facebook
This kind of information simply cannot be contained anymore – there’s just no way to prevent the spread of it. Where press embargoes have been used to avoid prejudicing trials in the past, a new system is needed.
At the same time I’m not sure I understand the argument against this information being public knowledge: if you were called for jury trial and heard about a baby being treated in this manner, you’d know it was the Baby P case and would be unavoidably prejudiced already. Knowing the name of the defendant would make precisely zero difference.
