Nick Robinson hits the nail on the head
If Mr Darling wins his bet the economy will be boosted and Labour will dare to dream of winning a record fourth term. If he loses, we will all be paying much much more for a long long time but it will be a Tory not a Labour chancellor who’s sending out the bills.
In other words, Alistair Darling is in a win-win situation for Labour, but is playing with massive stakes on the economy – if this policy fails, it will be left to the Tories to sort out disgracefully high unemployment and a completely broken social system.
Hmmm.
Yep, the debtor always wins. That is why social/moral systems always frown upon debt, because it leads to the perverse situation where the irresponsible have the responsible over a barrel.
I hate this government with an anger I have never experienced before. If my countrymen are stupid enough to elect them again I am leaving them to their fate.
