A lot of the feeds I keep in there are not necessary for my continued existance - a large proportion of them can be dealt with with a swift click on the 'Mark All As Read' button. I find it useful when I'm out and about that I can just grab my phone and always have something new and interesting to read. That makes it a pastime for me. To each his own, though! :-) I like being able to keep track of all the stuff I read regularly. They turn reading interesting posts into an obligation and a chore and mechanise what should be a pastime rather than a process. I just use my blogroll to keep up to date with my favourite bloggers.
