BBC Responds to Complaints over Cerrie Burnell
The BBC have put up an excellent and level-headed response to the complaints about Cerrie Burnell along with an interesting debate about children and people with disabilities. It’s well worth reading, particularly the comments from Cerrie herself, as well as a Child Psychologist called Penelope Leach, who says:
Three to four year olds can’t be sure that there aren’t people in the world who only ever have one arm. There are people who have glasses, or are very tall, or have different skin. Why shouldn’t there be people in the world who have a different number of arms?
If you missed it, I wrote a rather more impassioned reaction to this story earlier today.
