These popped into my head because of a comment from Tizzy. Thought it would be fun to share.
My parents once babysat for a friend who had a two-way monitor set up to make sure the little one was okay. When, inevitably, the little girl started crying, my Mum picked up the monitor and started saying soothing words – it’s okay, don’t worry, go back to sleep, that kind of thing.
Instantly, the crying stopped. Several moments of complete silence passed while my parents wondered at this miracle of child calming systems. Then a timid but curious voice emerged from the speaker…
“Hello, Wall…”

Similarly, the first time my parents had a babysitter come to look after me and my brother, they spent most of the day trying to keep my brother at ease (I was a little young to be worried at the time) by explaining to him that a babysitter would be coming round, that Mummy & Daddy were going out but there was no need to worry because the babysitter would be there to look after us.
When the time came, there was a knock on the door and my parents made enthusiastic sounds – “The babysitter’s here! Come and meet the babysitter!”
A slightly panicked expression crossed my brother’s face as he enquired “Does it have legs?”

My daughter, who has evidently watched Snow White more times than is arguably healthy, came into our room at 6:30 the other morning. She clambered in between us, rested her chin on her hands, and said in a very sweet voice, “someday, my Prince will come”.
And who said little girls don’t like Princesses.

Awww, so sweet.
Is that an opinion I can have as a childless adult?
