I’ve always been an unashamed Prince fan. When others mock my love for Prince they are truly unaware of how much I love the man’s music, and how long I’ve loved it for. My parents were huge Prince fans when I was born (in 1985, for reference – after Purple Rain, but before Sign ‘O’ The Times), and I followed in that trend from a very early age.

When I was 3, my parents got a call asking them to come into my Kindergarten and have a chat. The kindergarten were concerned about me, and it transpired that three-year-old me, with what I must assume was entirely innocent intent, had said something to a young girl at the nursery which seemed at first glance to be entirely inappropriate for a child my age. The Kindergarten, essentially, were concerned about where I had learned such phrases.

As you may have guessed by now, I was quoting a Prince lyric. One from the song Alphabet St. To be specific, 3-year-old me had walked up to a young girl and told her “I’m gonna talk so sexy, you’ll want me from my head to my feet.”

And to be honest, I don’t really think I’ve changed much since then.
