Breaking Tweets is an interesting site: reporting on news stories which have broken on Twitter before hitting the mainstream news. Their slogan is “hyperlocal gone global”, an interesting way of describing the phenomenon. I saw this story of an earthquake hitting ‘The North’ (you know, that geographically fuzzy area you see mentioned on M1 road signs) on Twitter first, it was 40 minutes before any professional news sites updated with it.
sigh I’m never where earthquakes are, and I so want to experience one.
What..? That’s not weird or anything, is it?
