Ian Tomlinson and the Blogosphere
Dizzy has given the Ian Tomlinson matter some thought, and decided not to come to any conclusions yet.
If you take a step back for a moment, and then take the the emotion out of it and just observe it for a few minutes you see what it actually is. Simply lots of hackneyed, irritating, typical argue on “teh Interweb” incendiary grenade throwing of black and white opposing political points.
The rest of his post is similarly right on the money. This incident has seen British political blogs at their very worst, shouting at each other over minute details of an incident that nobody as yet knows anything about. I will point out, though, that it’s the left-wing blogs (in general) that have jumped to all the conclusions, while the right-wingers have (in general) taken a far more measured stance. That says a lot to me.
Can’t be bothered to read through the ‘rest of the best’.
I’m sure someone must have mentioned that, had the same actions by the demonstrators been enacted by them as individuals on any other day, they would have been banged up by now.
The police have a responsibility, yes, but so do protestors when they lob rocks at a fellow human, whether in uniform or not. Last word.
I think that’s pretty much what I said. But obviously Dizzy has a cooler name.
