The Health Organisation That Cried Wolf

Not only have the public lost all faith in the media; not only do so many people assume, now, that they are being misled; but more than that, the media themselves have lost all confidence in their own ability to give us the facts.
I reckon that the ‘cried wolf’ effect is easily measurable, by the time between when the swine ‘flu reports started appearing and the moment that swine ‘flu became the punch line of every joke.
I agree, the level of cynicism is a thing of beauty. There is hope for the human race yet.
